Erika Leonard (born March 7th 1963), better known by her pen name E. L. James, is a London-based romance novels author, who gained massive popularity from her smash-hit novel, Fifty Shades of Grey (2011). The novel attracted a lot of attentions from media because of its BDSM-related content, and soon be dubbed as "mommy-porn" (majority of the readers are from married women, as well as young women).
The success of her first novel then followed by the sequel trilogy Fifty Shades Darker in the same year, and Fifty Shades Freed in 2012.
Time Magazine ranked her among "The 100 Most Inflential People in the World" in 2012.
Fifty Shades of Grey has been adapted into screen and scheduled to be out in February 2015.
Mrs. E.L James surely never thought to be one of the leading female novelists to this day, but her phenomenal novels, which she initially wrote them out of boredom, was her hugest prove :)
